The Tawny is the Symington family’s interpretation of the art of blending. While other aged Tawnys are categorised by precise years (10, 20 years etc.), The Tawny is an individual expression of the understanding of what a premium oak-aged Tawny Port should be. In creating The Tawny, tasters and oenologists were given great freedom to choose from a range of wines aged for different periods of time in the cellar.
Description
Color: Rich, golden amber color.
Fragrance: A tempting nose of dried fruits and chocolate.
Taste: The wine is rich and complex with a soft aroma of toasted almonds and a hint of orange peel and spice. The appealing flavors are full and rich with a long, decadent finish.
Aging: The wines included in the final blend were aged for between 7 and 9 years – a time during which they became mellow, while at the same time retaining the rich flavors of fruit and spices.
Serving temperature: 10°-12°
Food pairing: Chocolate desserts, caramel, nuts, dried fruits or simply as a digestive.
Storage potential: up to 10-15 years.
