Dominus Estate, Yountville, California, was established in 1983 by Christian Moe. It is located next to the renowned Napanook Vineyard. In the 1940s and 1950s, it was the source of grapes for some of the best wines in Napa Valley. In fact, the vineyard’s history can be traced back to the beginnings of Napa Valley, when in 1838, George Yount, for whom the town of Yountville is named, first planted vines there. Today, this historic vineyard produces three wines: Dominus, its flagship, Napanook, and Othello. Christian Moe chose the name “Dominus” (“master of the estate” in Latin) to emphasize his long-standing commitment to the land. Rooted in the values of quality, stewardship, tradition, and innovation, the Dominus Estate team shares a vision of producing distinctive wines that are expressive of this unique terroir. The vineyard is grown entirely without irrigation, allowing the vines to take full advantage of the unique geology of the land. Viticulture and winemaking are carried out with great care, with the aim of producing clean, balanced and complex wines. Minimal intervention during the selection, fermentation and aging process of the grapes preserves the typical characteristics of the fruit. The resulting wines, with enormous aging potential, convey the character of this historic vineyard.
