Celeste Verdejo, Rueda 0.75 2024
11.46 €
Region: Rueda
Grape varieties: Verdejo
The DO Rueda is located in the central area of the drainage basin formed by the Duero River and the high plateau, whose gently undulating topography is exposed to the Atlantic winds. The DO is between 700 and 800 meters above sea level and extends over areas in the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Ávila. The relief, gravelly soils and continental climate make it an ideal area for the production of white wines, especially from the Verdejo variety. Celeste Verdejo is a modern wine, fresh and intensely aromatic. The vineyards owned by the estate, near the Duero River, are cultivated with great care and respect to give this wine greater complexity and to highlight the character of the variety from this specific area in the DO Rueda.
Description
Color: The wine has a brilliant, transparent, pale golden color.
Fragrance: Highly aromatic nose, showing varietal notes of dill and green almond with white floral nuances.
Taste: Silky and firm on the palate, with fine, elegant acidity, giving great length.
Aging: This wine is made from vineyards owned by an estate in Villafranca del Duero, specifically from vineyards near the left bank of the Duero River, where the foot of the valley begins its gentle waves and picturesque meanders. Here the river is widest and most violent. The combination of location, orientation and calcareous soils – gravelly clay soil and river stones from the riverbed – highlight the expression of the Verdejo variety, enhancing its aromas.
Serving temperature: 10°-11°
Food pairing: Think of Verdejo as a fuller-bodied, more aromatic Sauvignon Blanc. The lush, soft character with perfectly balanced acidity means Rueda wines pair well with seafood, fresh salads and spicy food, but they are also great on their own. A wonderful aperitif, it also pairs perfectly with seafood, fresh or fried fish, and goes great with salads.
Storage potential: 5 years.
